The Danbury Concert Chorus is a non-auditioned ensemble that performs a variety of choral masterworks including an annual Messiah performed with members of the Danbury Symphony Orchestra.

Welcome to the Danbury Community Chorus webpage!

Our fall program is titled, America Sings! We will feature works by American composers, some known, some not so. In honor of Danbury native Charles Ives’ 150 birthday, we will reprise his choral work, “I Come to Thee”, which we performed in the spring of 2023.

Next is the well-known and endearing work by Randall Thompson, “Frostiana”, which sets 7 poems by Robert Frost to music. Emma Lou Diemer, who recently passed away, wrote “Three Madrigals”, a work set to three Shakespearean texts. To round out the program, we will sing two works by groundbreaking composer Florence Price, “Praise the Lord” and “Resignation”, Ola Gjeilo’s haunting setting of “Ubi Caritas, and  Morten Lauridsen’s “Sure on this Shining Night” and “Dirait-on!”

Of course, December is reserved for Messiah. We will present Part I in its entirety, and selections from Parts 2 & 3. This is with professional soloists and orchestra.

Finally, our Spring program will feature the music of Gabriel Fauré with his “Cantique de Jean Racine” and his moving “Requiem”. We will be joined by an orchestra for both of these works.
