Danbury Centre Strings

The Danbury Centre Strings (DCS) provides a challenging, exciting, educational ensemble experience for string players. Members will study standard string repertoire appropriate to their level of playing. They will develop playing technique, listening skills, orchestral technique, and ensemble experience. Many of the DCS alumni go on to perform in the Danbury Community Orchestra and Danbury Symphony Orchestra.

The DCS is a non-auditioned string orchestra for all ages (including adults) that performs varied repertoire.

The DCS has no age restrictions and welcomes children, teenagers, and adults who play the violin, viola, cello or bass. It is recommended that participants have completed Book I of the Suzuki method or Books I and II of any other method. Participants will enjoy greater success if 2nd or 3rd Book of most String Methods has been completed.

Members must have basic note reading and rhythm skills and the ability to play in a variety of meters.

If you are unsure if the DCS is the right group for you, your student or your child, please attend a rehearsal and try it out. Bring your instrument.

Please Note: All students who participate in the DCS are strongly encouraged to participate during the academic year in a similar school program if it is provided by their school district. It is also recommended that students study privately.
