Silent Film Night – Buster Keaton’s “Sherlock Jr.” with live musical accompaniment
A century has passed since the inimitable Buster Keaton unleashed one of his best films upon the world…now regarded as a masterpiece. In 1990, it was entered into the Library of Congress for preservation. It has made numerous lists of best stunts, laughs, scenes, films, etc. It is one of the best by one of the best.
On July 20, 2024, Michael Bank will be leading the acclaimed Danbury Vaudeville Orchestra in providing a live musical accompaniment to this comedy masterpiece. The Danbury Vaudeville Orchestra is a nine-piece group similar to the one heard in the Danbury Palace Theatre in the 1920’s and is composed of members of the Danbury Music Centre. The film score for Sherlock Jr. has been newly compiled from authentic silent film cues by Michael Bank who assisted in scoring silent films for the AMC channel.
