Danbury Concert Chorus: America Sings!

 America Sings!

This concert will feature works by American composers. In honor of Danbury native Charles Ives’ 150 birthday, the chorus will perform his choral work, “I Come to Thee”. Also on the program is the well-known and endearing work by Randall Thompson, “Frostiana”, which sets seven poems by Robert Frost to music. Emma Lou Diemer, who recently passed away, wrote “Three Madrigals”, a work set to three Shakespearean texts. To round out the program, the chorus will sing two works by groundbreaking composer Florence Price, “Praise the Lord” and “Resignation”, Ola Gjeilo’s haunting setting of “Ubi Caritas, and  Morten Lauridsen’s “Sure on this Shining Night” and “Dirait-on!”

Admission is free. Donations will be gratefully accepted at the door.
