Danbury Community Orchestra: A Heritage of Music from Women Composers

The Danbury Community Orchestra, led by conductor Stephen Michael Smith, will present an exhilarating concert showcasing the rich contributions of women composers.

Featured on the program will be Florence Price’s Suite of Dances, a vibrant work that highlights her distinctive voice in American classical music. Also included is the Sinfonia from Tibulle et Délie by Henriette de Beaumesnil, an elegant piece that captures the grace of 18th-century composition. Rounding out the program is Louise Farrenc’s Symphony No. 1 in C Minor, Op. 32, a powerful symphonic work that demonstrates Farrenc’s exceptional skill and artistry. celebration of women’s creative legacies in classical music.

This concert will be a wonderful celebration of the creativity and contributions of women composers to classical music.

Admission is free and open to all. Donations are gratefully accepted at the door.
