The-Kid-Charlie-Chaplin

Join us for a unique experience blending Charlie Chaplin’s “The Kid” with live music – a silent movie like you’ve never seen before!

Danbury Vaudeville Orchestra under the direction of Michael Bank will be playing a live musical soundtrack for Charlie Chaplin’s 1921 silent film classic The Kid  at Greenwood Features in Bethel, CT on Sunday August 10, 2025 at 3 pm.

Chaplin’s The Kid is perhaps the first dramedy, or as he puts it, “A picture with a smile – and perhaps, a tear”.  Chaplin was at the height of his artistry and popularity when he spent over a year to produce this timeless masterpiece which clearly held deep personal resonance for him.  The comedy and drama unfold as Chaplin’s Tramp character adopts an abandoned waif played by Jackie Coogan (a talented child star who much later regained popularity as Uncle Fester on the Addams Family TV show).

The Danbury Vaudeville Orchestra is a eight piece group composed of members of the Danbury Music Centre.  The film score for The Kid has been newly compiled from authentic silent film cues by Michael Bank who assisted in scoring silent films for the AMC channel.
