2026 DSO-Annual Student Concerto Competition-Accepting Applications

Danbury Symphony Orchestra announces Annual Student Concerto Competition

The DMC will be accepting applications and video submissions for its 2026 Annual Concerto Competition for students until  midnight February 1. 2026. 

The recital of finalists will be held at the Marian Anderson Recital Hall at the Danbury Music Centre on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at 3 pm. A winner will be announced after the recital. 

Guidelines: The competition is open to instrumentalists no older than high school seniors.  Contestants must reside in the states of Connecticut, New York or New Jersey. Finalists will perform in a recital format for a panel of judges including Ariel Rudiakov, Music Director & Conductor, Danbury Symphony Orchestra. Contestants must provide their own accompanists. First place winners from previous years are not eligible to participate.

The winner will receive a $500 prize to further their music studies. The winner must be available to solo with the Danbury Symphony Orchestra at their Young People’s Concert, performing one movement of a concerto with the orchestra, on May 17, 2026 at 3 pm in Danbury. CT.
