Andrea Rivera-Luna is a composer, educator, and saxophonist currently studying at the Eastman School of Music. Her most recent composition performances took place in 2019 and 2020. The Zohn Collective read her piece for small ensemble A hop, a skip, and a jump during a composer’s masterclass in 2019, after being selected from among her peers to be performed. In 2020, her piece for solo saxophone Challenge Accepted was performed as part of “a very small consortium,” hosted by University of Wisconsin – Green Bay.

As a performer, she has travelled extensively with the Notre Dame band. Select performance locations include Peru, South Africa, and New Zealand. She was first chair alto saxophone for the 2018-2019 school year. Additionally, she was lead alto from 2016-2018 in Jazz Band 2. In the 2018-2019 school year she played baritone saxophone in Jazz Band 1 and New Orleans Brass Band. She continued her baritone saxophone career in Eastman’s Jazz Lab Band during the 2020-2021 school year.

Andrea received her undergraduate degree with Honors in Saxophone Performance at the University of Notre Dame. She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Music Education at Eastman.
