The Madrigal Singers is an auditioned choral ensemble that performs a variety of chamber music and a cappella Renaissance and Elizabethan Madrigals, Motets, Chansons, and Anthems throughout the year. The singers will perform at community venues in the area, Danbury Music Centre concerts and perform a Madrigal dinner during the holiday season.
Madrigal singers will be asked at times to sing other vocal parts to round out the harmonies in a piece of music. Singers should have time to rehearse and practice on their own outside of scheduled rehearsals. Various help aids will be available through the director, however members are expected to be prepared prior to the weekly rehearsal.
Auditions are open to the public as well as to DMC members, ages 16 and up.
Singers can audition either evening and are asked to bring a solo piece of music sung in your range (Soprano, Alto, Tenor or Bass/Baritone) that shows your vocal range, voice quality and expression and be prepared to sing 16 measures (no pop music please!) For example, you could sing the Star Spangled Banner, a folk song, or a piece we sang with the Community Chorus.
Registration is closed. Please check back in January
