CMI Artist Concert Series

Chamber Music Intensive

Artist Concert Series

The Chamber Music Intensive (CMI) Artist Concert Series is curated by CMI Artistic Director Paul Frucht. The series regularly features CMI artist-faculty and guest artists performing an eclectic mix of classic favorites, modern masterworks which span multiple genres, and  contemporary American music in celebration of Danbury-native Charles Ives.

The series occurs in conjunction with CMI, a program that brings recent graduates of Juilliard and other major conservatories to Danbury for a week as Artist-faculty who teach and perform with local aspiring musicians. Read more about CMI by visiting the CMI webpage here.

Saturday, May 13th: Charles Ives and His Living Legacy

Featuring violist Caeli Smith and pianist Ben Laude

Performing works by Ives and contemporary American composers

7:30 at Marian Anderson Recital Hall at the Danbury Music Centre

The Danbury Music Centre celebrates Charles Ives with an evening of works by lves and other American composers. In addition to his music, Ives left American composers with a foundation from which to build. He was a pioneer of American concert music, which without him, would look and sound vastly different than it does today. His estate continues to support American composers through a variety of means, including through the American Academy of Arts and Letters. As American composers continue to emerge, Ives’ legacy continues to grow. This concert features some of those American composers who, like many, have benefitted from Ives’ contributions, both musical and otherwise.

The performance is in conjunction with the Chamber Music Adult Mini-Intensive, an educational weekend of chamber music rehearsals, masterclasses, and performances, with Chamber Music Intensive Artist Faculty.

Tickets are $20 at the door for general admission.

$15 for seniors and past CMI participants (both 2015 and 2016)
